Lexington KY council adds money for officer recruitment
The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council voted Tuesday to add $5 million to retain and recruit public safety officers and also added millions for several road improvement projects as part of changes to Mayor Linda Gorton’s $460 million spending plan.

McBrayer attorney Preston Clark Worley was sworn in this morning as council member for the 7th District. With one year left in the term, council member Jennifer Scutchfield resigned to become assistant director of the Kentucky Board of Elections, leaving the role to be appointed by Lexington Mayor Jim Gray.

Gracie took her idea to Carla Jackson, director of Hayes Middle Schools’ Youth Services Center. Jackson thought the project fit in perfectly with the work she was doing with Sarah Yates, the Family Resource Center Director at both Garrett Morgan and Athens Chilesburg Elementary schools and with Urban County Council member Preston Worley to bring more opportunities to students, particularly those living in east Lexington around Bainbridge Drive.
Lexington council adds projects to mayor’s proposed budget
Councilman Preston Worley said other sections of the Old Todds Road sidewalk are already in the works. The portion from Woodhill to Palumbo is a key connection along Old Todds Road.
Lexington adds a new park!
We’re adding a park to the family! Today, Lexington Parks & Recreation named the new addition, Buckhorn Park, with Mayor Jim Gray and Councilmember Preston Worley cutting a ribbon to celebrate.
Mt. Tabor Park gets trail addition, shelter
Paved walking trails are the thing Lexington residents want most in their parks, according to a recent survey. “So that’s what we’ve built in Mt. Tabor Park,” Mayor Jim Gray said today.
Gray and Councilmember Preston Worley cut a ribbon today to celebrate the completion of a trail addition and a new shelter at the park, located at 550 Elk Lake Drive.
